Parasailing weight and age limits

The numbers, first: 125–560 lb combined for a tandem flight, 130 lb minimum to fly solo, and ages 5 and up with no upper limit. Everything below is what those numbers mean in practice.

There is a minimum as well as a maximum

Most people arrive expecting only an upper limit, and the lower one is the number that catches them out. A solo flyer needs to be at least 130 lb. Below that there is not enough load on the parasail to fly it properly — it is a physics limit rather than a policy, and it is why children almost always fly tandem.

At the other end, a tandem flight runs up to 560 lb for the two flyers together. In between, anything from 125 lb combined works.

Tandem and triple are combined weights

The 125–560 lb range is the total of both people, not each. Triple flights carry three at once. Between 1–3 flyers go up on each parasail, and the crew sorts the pairings on the boat once they can see the group — you do not need to work it out before you book.

If your group is over the limit

Nobody gets turned away for arithmetic. Each boat carries up to 12 guests and flights run continuously through the session, so a party that does not fit one pairing is split across two. The only thing that helps is telling the crew your real weights rather than your optimistic ones — the numbers are what keeps the parasail flying, not a formality.

Age 5 and up, no upper limit

The minimum age is 5. There is no maximum: the harness takes your weight at the hips, you are seated the whole flight, and both takeoff and landing happen on the deck rather than in the water. Check with your doctor first if you have back, neck or heart conditions, or recent surgery.

A parent or guardian signs the waiver for anyone under 18. If you are flying with a child, is parasailing safe for kids covers the rest of it.

The captain has the last word

Weather and sea conditions change what works on a given morning. A pairing that is fine in flat water may not be in a stiff afternoon breeze, and the final call belongs to the captain on the day. It is the same reason the flight window moves: how the flight works covers the 1,200 ft line and the 8–14 minutes in the air.

What is the weight limit for parasailing?

For tandem flights the combined weight of both flyers runs 125–560 lb. Solo flyers need to be at least 130 lb — there is a minimum rather than only a maximum, because a light flyer does not load the parasail enough to fly it properly. Weather and sea conditions change what works on the day, and the final call is always the captain's.

Is there a weight limit for parasailing?

Yes, at both ends. Tandem is 125–560 lb combined, and a solo flyer must be at least 130 lb. Triple flights are also available, and the crew works out the combinations on the boat once they can see the group.

What is the maximum weight for parasailing?

560 lb combined for a tandem flight. If your party is over that, the crew will split you across flights rather than turn you away — every trip carries up to 12 guests and flights run through the session.

What is the minimum weight to parasail solo?

130 lb. Below that you fly tandem, which most people prefer anyway — it is the same flight with someone next to you.

What is the age limit for parasailing?

Ages 5 and up. There is no upper age limit; the harness takes your weight at the hips and the landing is soft. Check with your doctor first if you have back, neck or heart conditions, or recent surgery.

How old do you have to be to parasail?

Five. Most children under the solo minimum of 130 lb fly tandem with a parent, and a waiver is signed by a parent or guardian.

Do you get weighed before parasailing?

The crew asks your weight rather than putting you on a scale, and pairs the flights from what you tell them. It is worth being accurate — the numbers are what keeps the parasail flying properly, not a formality.
