Things to do near Whalers Village
- Snorkel 10 min north
Black Rock (Puʻu Kekaʻa)
The lava point at the north end of the beach, and the best easy-entry snorkel on this stretch — turtles, reef fish, and clear water in the morning before the wind comes up.
- Free · nightly 10 min north
The cliff dive ceremony
Every evening at sunset, a diver lights the torches along Black Rock and dives from the point, re-enacting the leap of Maui's chief Kahekili. Costs nothing to watch.
- Shops & food 3 min south
Whalers Village
The open-air centre right behind the beach: restaurants with ocean views, shops, a grocery for beach supplies, and the closest parking structure to our check-in.
- Walk At your feet
The Kāʻanapali beach path
A paved boardwalk running the length of the resort strip, from Black Rock down past the hotels. Flat, shaded in stretches, good early or late.
- Swim At your feet
Kāʻanapali Beach itself
Three miles of sand with generally gentle surf in summer, which is exactly why the parasail operation is based here. Watch for shorebreak on bigger south swells.
- Boat tour On the sand
Lānaʻi Snorkel Safari
Our sister company runs small-group guided snorkel tours to the reefs off Lānaʻi aboard a 32-foot raft, departing daily from this beach.
- Coming soon 15 min drive
Lahaina town
Coming soon! Big progress has been made on the rebuilding of our beloved town — we'll add a full guide here as more of Lahaina reopens.
- Golf 5 min drive
Kāʻanapali Golf Courses
Two courses right behind the resort strip, both with ocean views from the upper holes. Book early tee times for the same reason you book early flights.
